NEMRA is thrilled to announce a new philanthropic effort in 2020. “We will join with the Gary Sinise Foundation to “do a little more” for our nation’s military heroes and their families throughout the coming year”, said Jim Johnson, President of NEMRA.
Established under the philanthropic direction of actor Gary Sinise, an advocate of our nation’s defenders for nearly forty years, the Gary Sinise Foundation’s mission is to serve our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. The foundation accomplishes its work through a number of national and local programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities. Gary reminds us, “While we can never do enough to show gratitude to our nation’s defenders, we can always do a little more.”
NEMRA is proud to partner with the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment) specially adapted smart homes initiative to construct one-of-a-kind homes for our nation’s most severely wounded heroes. The initiative predominantly supports post-9/11 defenders injured in combat operations or during training while performing their duties. These 100% mortgage-free homes ease the daily challenges faced by these heroes and their families who sacrifice alongside them. NEMRA members may get involved and support our nation’s heroes in a variety of ways and in cities and towns across the country.

“Together, as an association, we can help expand the R.I.S.E program’s outreach and build homes for even more deserving veterans, first responders, and their families”, said Johnson
